DRAMA 8This course introduces students to the skills and activities on which theatre work is based. Students learn basic terminology associated with acting and performing, and learn to work confidently, alone and with others, to develop simple performance skills. Physical Theatre, storytelling, scene making, and theatre games all play a part in developing the students’ skills. Upon successfully completing the course, the student will be able to write and perform a short scripted scene. Students are evaluated on a daily basis for their work and cooperation.

Introductory Theatre Production focuses on developing performing & non-performing theatre skills through a dramatic production. Tech students learn the basics of theatre management, lighting, sound, set and costume design, and property design and production. The acting students will audition, rehearse, and perform a dramatic production for the public. This course will be offered outside the regular timetable. DRAMA 12

This course continues the study of theatre as a performance art. Students will further develop their knowledge and skills in all phases of the theatre process. By actively participating in the rehearsal and performance process, students build confidence, self-esteem, and a sense of commitment. As a component of his course, students will be asked to direct a short script and present their work publicly to a school/community audience. |

Introductory Drama focuses on developing acting skills through theatre games, improvisation, and scripted plays. Students prepare much of their own material and are encouraged to perform publicly at least once in the course of the school year. The class undertakes several projects, which may include an elementary school play or a full-length play for the community. DRAMA 11

This course expands upon skills acquired in Drama 10. By participating in formal and informal performances in a variety of settings, students increase their knowledge and develop skills in all phases of the theatre process. Through participation in the rehearsal and performance process, students gain confidence, self-esteem, and a sense of commitment. THEATRE PRODUCTION 12

This course continues the study of the integral role of production elements in a theatre performance. Students will further develop the skills and attitudes necessary to work within a production team, including teamwork, adaptability, support, and leadership. They will experience in depth the interconnected production roles of design, technical, and management. They also develop their experience of working as part of a larger theatre company, including, actors, director, and scriptwriter. Students in Advanced Production will be expected to take on supervisory roles and mentor students in the intermediate program. This course will be offered outside of the regular timetable. |
